During the winter break, I went to go see New Year's Eve at Sawgrass. I was hesitant at first because I didn't hear a lot of good reviews about the movie, but I like to investigate things myself. The movie overall was pretty good, and for me, a tearjerker (I know, I'm a cornball). The movie begins with several different scenarios. The first one shows Claire Morgan, who is in charge of essentially making the New Year's ball drop at midnight. She freaks out about making sure that everything goes perfectly as to impress her boss and, most importantly, everybody in the U.S. who will be watching. The biggest dilemma for her occurs when the ball stops working. Her and her team now have to work on fixing the ball before the big moment arises. On top of that dilemma, she also has to try to see her dad, who is in the hospital dying from cancer, and watch the ball drop with him at midnight. The second scenario shows a grumpy man named Randy, who highly dislikes New Year's and winds up tearing down all of the decorations in the hall of his apartment. He goes in an elevator and rides it with a young back up singer named Elise (played by Lea Michele who acts in my FAVORITE show of all time, Glee). The elevator gets stuck and they have to spend the rest of New Years together. The third scenario shows a frustrated and overworked office assistant named Ingrid, who is on a quest to go through her whole entire New Year's resolution list before midnight. She gets tickets to attend the hottest New Year's party in New York City from her job but ends up quitting after not getting her desired vacation time. She meets with a young mail clerk named Paul, who all throughout the film helps her accomplish all of them in exchange for the tickets. The fourth scenario deals with a chef named Laura who gets the opportunity to cater at the party mentioned before. She also has to work on repairing her relationship with a famous rockstar named Jensen, who left her to go on tour. The fifth scenario deals with an overprotective mom and fashion designer named Kim who, while is trying to figure out her own love problems, also has to deal with her 15 year old daughter named Hailey, who wants to be with her crush on New Years. The next scenario shows 2 expectant couples who are in a compeition to win money for having the first baby on New Year's day. The last two scenarios deal with the Claire's cancer-stricken dad, Stan, who is reminiscing of how poorly he treated people in the past and also is looking forward to see New Year's for the last time and a young bachelor named Sam, who is trying to find his true love who he met last New Year's, which in the end winds up being Kim. In a nutshell, the movie compiles all of these scenarios and shows how each and every person finds true love or accomplishes a great feat on New Year's Eve. Oh and by the way, the ball did get fixed in time for the big countdown. So that's my breakdown on the movie and I hope you all get the opportunity to watch it. Goodnight loves
