A Walk To Remember

Movie Cover!!! :D
Hi everyone! This is Stephanie, from 7th period. This weekend I watched the movie A Walk To Remember based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. Not only is Nicholas Sparks one of my favorite authors of all time, you might recognize some of his other novels-turned-into-movies, such as The Notebook, The Last Song and Dear John. Yes, I'll admit it- the ending of this movie always makes me tear up. What can I say?! I'm a sucker for a great love story.
The movie is about the story of two North Carolina teens, Landon Carter(Shane West) and Jamie Sullivan(Mandy Moore), who are thrown together after Landon gets into trouble and is made to do community service. Even though the novel is set in the 1950's, while the film is set in 1998, it was still very well done.
My favorite actress in this movie has to be the lovely Mandy Moore. Her role is about an older teen, who is quiet, kind and bookish. She also happens to be the daughter of the town's Baptist minister. She is constantly teased about her appearance and is the outcast of the school. She does have acquaintances in the school's drama club and things like that, seeing as she does tons of charity work, but she keeps to herself most of the time. Mandy's acting as Jamie Sullivan was convinving and touching, and everything seemed heartfelt. She had a very likeable character, being soft in nature and portaying innocence.
When the movie A Walk To Remember was released in 2002, Mandy Moore won 'Best Breakthrough Female Performance' at the MTV Movie Awards, as well as 'Choice Breakout Performance- Actress' a the Teen Choice Awards. Also at the Teen Choice Awards, Shane West and Mandy Moore won 'Choice Chemistry' for their acting in the film. It was a great hit among general audiences and he total revenue generated worldwide was $47,494,916.
I loved watching A Walk To Remember, and I encourage everyone else to go and see it as well :) It will pull on your heart-strings with it's twists and turns, and to all of you that enjoy romantic/dramatic movie, this is something you HAVE to see!
